Club Career
Larry Lloyd’s career makes for hugely impressive reading. Managerial Career
Despite winning the last of his four England caps in 1980, Lloyd left Forest for Fourth Division Wigan in March 1981. As player-manager, Lloyd guided the the club to promotion in his first full season in charge, but left to take over at Notts County in 1983. After a period as a pundit, Lloyd moved to Spain, where he manages amateur side Real Marbella.
Key Games
Liverpool 3-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach (UEFA Cup final, May 10, 1973)
Facing the might of the outstanding German side Borussia Mönchengladbach – including Günter Netzer, Rainer Bonhof and Berti Vogts – Liverpool were simply outstanding in the first match of a two-legged final. Two goals from Kevin Keegan and one from that man Lloyd saw Liverpool travel to Germany with a 3-0 advantage. They lost the return 2-0, but still lifted the trophy.
Nottingham Forest 1-0 Liverpool (League Cup final, March 22, 1978)
After a goalless draw at Wembley, Lloyd’s Forest met up with his former club Liverpool at Old Trafford for the replay. In a tight game, John Robertson converted a disputed 53rd minute penalty to give the Midlanders a victory that must have tasted all the sweeter to Lloyd, who had been let go by the Merseysiders four years earlier.
Wigan 3-1 Mansfield (Fourth Division, May 8, 1982)
Lloyd signed striker Eamon O’Keefe from Everton for a club record £65,000 in January 1982 and had the satisfaction of seeing his protege score a hat-trick in the home match against Mansfield that secured the club’s promotion to the Third Division.

Did You Know...?
Lloyd played every single minute of every game for Liverpool during the 1972-73 campaign as the club secured both the First Division Championship and the UEFA Cup.
When Forest won the League in 1978, Brian Clough’s defence – with Lloyd a key player – conceded just 24 goals in 42 games.
When Lloyd was in charge at Notts County he was asked by a reporter what he thought about the fact that nine of his 11 players had been booked in one particular game. “Well, I’ll have to question the commitment of the other two,” was his reply.
