Team news
Aitken in line for Ayr return Chris Aitken could return to Ayr's starting line-up as the Division One's bottom side come up against leaders Queen of the South.
The Somerset Park skipper was benched for last week's defeat by struggling Airdrie and looks likely to be restored to the team.
Kevin James and Willie Easton are still struggling with injuries and both will be touch-and-go for the encounter.
Boss Brian Reid has vowed to sort out his side after their poor displays, and said: "I am still trying to get in a couple of players as we have a very small squad.
"Airdrie had 22 players and we are sitting with about 18, a lot of whom are part-time which is never ideal.
"There is a long way to go and we'll get ourselves out of it." Queen of the South manager Gordon Chisholm has one major selection dilemma ahead of the clash.
Following two wins and two clean sheets on the trot, Chisholm is reluctant to make changes.
But he said: "The big decision is whether to risk David Weatherston or not.
"Neil Scally is still coming along nicely and that's another week without any ill-effects under his belt. It's just a matter of him getting games now.
Ayr vs Queen of South
Last modified 18:27 07/11/09
Ayr woe continues Derek Holmes grabbed the only goal as Queen of the South withstood a second-half barrage to stay top and sentence bottom side Ayr to their fourth straight defeat.
Holmes rose at the back post to head home a cross from Stephen McKenna after 20 minutes for the only goal.
David Lilley flashed a header wide soon after, while Ryan Borris nodded into the side netting for Ayr.
The home team went for broke after the interval and hemmed Queens back for long periods, but couldn't find a way through.
