Rovers boss Paul Trollope was relieved to see his side produce their first clean sheet of the season, but the day was soured as Ryan Green and Steve Elliott went off with injuries.
Trollope said: "We're happy with the clean sheet after going so long without one.
"Ryan has a recurrence of a hamstring injury, which is a blow - and Steve has a dead leg so we will assess the situation now."
Rovers keeper Steve Phillips made two great saves from Crewe sub Anthony Elding to earn the point.
