Jamal Campbell-RYCE has warned people to back off from whizzkid Rueben Noble-Lazarus.
Noble-Lazarus became Barnsley's and the Football League's youngest ever debutant last week when he came on as a sub against Ipswich aged just 15 years and 45 days.
He was given another sample of professional football on Saturday for the last three minutes of a south Yorkshire derby.
The precocious teenager woke to find reporters outside his house last Wednesday and press reports have already started linking him to moves to Premier League clubs.
Campbell-Ryce, however, has urged the hacks to stay away, saying: "He's still only 15, the media can't jump on him. He's got a long, long way to go - he's still in school.
"He's obviously got the ability, but what the gaffer has done is break him in gently by giving him a little taster, here and there.
"Over the next couple of years let's just hope he can build on what he has. With his ability and potential, he has a great chance."
Jamaican Campbell-Ryce inspired the Tykes to a much needed win with a tireless display, including a virtuoso solo goal.
With both lowly sides desperate for a win, it was Donny who took the initative when Brian Stock gave them the lead from the spot after Dennis Souza was harshly judged to have pushed Lewis Guy.
Guy was involved when Darren Moore got a straight red for pulling him down to stop his clear run on goal just after the break.
But the dismissal only served to galvanise the Tykes who punched back through a glancing header from Stephen Foster, Campbell-Ryce's 25-yard special, sub Jon Macken's first touch strike and a scorcher from Iain Hume.
