Rovers take Stock ahead of derby clash Doncaster duo Brian Stock and Jason Shackell will be hoping to prove their fitness in time to face Scunthorpe in their final home league game of the season.

Captain Stock (back) has been sidelined since February but has returned to light training, along with on-loan defender Shackell (groin), and the pair could feature on the bench at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Martin Woods had surgery on his groin on Thursday and will not feature again this season, while on-loan striker Billy Sharp remains sidelined with a thigh problem.

But James Coppinger should return to the side following his recovery from an ankle problem as Sean O'Driscoll's men look to end a dismal run of four games without a win in the Championship.

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins is expected to choose from the same squad of players that secured a priceless point against Reading.

The Iron fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with the Royals on Tuesday night to ensure they will spend another season in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Defenders Michael Raynes, Jim McNulty (both ankle) and Rob Jones did not feature against Reading and Adkins does not expect the trio to play in the derby clash at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Left-back Marcus Williams (hamstring) is also expected to remain sidelined and the Iron could field and unchanged starting line-up.

                                                    Daily Mirror match report

Quiet man Shelton Martis believes he needs to shout more.

But the laid-back defender proved actions can speak louder than words by grabbing a late winner.

The former West Brom stopper headed in his first goal for Rovers since switching permanently from The Hawthorns in February.

Said Martis: “I can be a bit quiet on the pitch sometimes . And my body language isn’t always what it should be.

“I need to organise things a bit more and be more vocal with the players – shout at times.’

Doncaster could achieve their highest-ever league position, set 50 years ago, if they win at Swansea next Sunday and Martis insists the club can use that as a benchmark for their next target – promotion to the Premier League.

Added Martis: “Other clubs have done it, such as Burnley and Stoke, so why not us?

“We have played well against the best teams in the division this season, but the results haven’t always reflected that.

“It’s about being that little bit more consistent and the manager knows what he needs to bring in to improve us.

“We’ve got the facilities here. Everything is in place.”

Martis sealed a see-saw derby after Gary Hooper scored twice and Paul Hayes grabbed Scunthorpe’s other goal.

James Hayter also scored for Doncaster, along with on-loan duo Jordon Mutch and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas.

Defender Kenny Milne fears Scunthorpe may lose their two prize assets this summer with strikers Hooper and Hayes both potentially on their way out of Glanford Park.

The pair have plundered 28 league goals between them and Milne said: “Our front two have been different class this season and there are going to be a lot of big fish chasing them this summer.”
