Metalist on the brink FC Metalist already have one foot in the last 16 of the Europa League after a comprehensive 4-0 triumph over Salzburg in the first leg of their round of 32 tie.
The Ukraine champions need only avoid a disastrous home result in the Metalist Stadium, Kharkiv, to secure a meeting with either Rubin Kazan or Olympiacos in the last 16.
Metalist are unbeaten at home in the Europa League and their record of 16 goals makes them the most dangerous attacking team in the competition.
Coach Myron Markevych told reporters: "We must forget the result of the first game. We need to continue playing with the same spirit.
"We need to play with the desire, especially given the fact that we will have nine days without any match practice, and it is important that the players came out and played at full strength." They were inspired in the first leg by the performance of Brazilian forward Taison, who gave them a first minute lead and masterminded a dominant attacking performance.
Neither side had played for two months but Metalist who were into their stride immediately, with Jonatan Cristaldo scoring twice before the interval with Marko Devic adding the coup de grace in injury time.
Salzburg shared a goalless draw with Austrian champions Sturm Graz at the weekend, which cost them a chance to move top of the Bundesliga table.
Domestic matters are now their main focus now, with a trip to third-placed Ried looming at the weekend and a lengthening injury list to contend with.
Stefan Maierhofer is suspended while Douglas de Silva, Andreas Ulmer Stefan Hierldnder, Jakob Jantscher and Leonardo have all been listed as doubtful to face Metalist following the weekend's draw.
But coach Ricardo Moniz has demanded his players do their country proud in Kharkiv.
"Metalist Kharkiv have more than one foot in the last 16 for sure, but we cannot allow ourselves to fail to give everything that we've got," Moniz told the club's website.
"It would be foolhardy to suggest that we can win 5-0 in Kharkiv or that we have a good chance of that.
"We will go into the match determined to win though, and represent Austrian football accordingly.

Metalist saunter into last 16 Metalist Kharkiv eased into the last 16 of the Europa League to set up a double-header against Olympiacos next month thanks to a 4-1 triumph over Salzburg.
The contest was effectively over after the Ukrainians romped to a 4-0 win in Austria last week.
Martin Hinteregger's own goal ended any hopes Salzburg may have had of an unlikely comeback - and although Jakob Jantscher levelled in the second half, further goals from Jonathan Cristaldo, Sebastian Blanco and substitute Marlos sealed a resounding 8-1 aggregate success for the hosts. Metalist, with 16 goals to their name prior to tonight's contest and the most dangerous attacking team in the competition, came closest to an early breakthrough when Freda Taison had a shot parried by Salzburg goalkeeper Alexander Walke in the 11th minute.
The visitors' first attempt came in the 20th minute - but Jonathan Soriano saw his 20-yard shot blocked by defender Andriy Berezovchuk.
Metalist did not need a helping hand after their first leg exploits - but they got it in the 29th minute when they were gifted the lead, Hinteregger's misdirected attempt to clear ending up in his own net.
Taison shot wide for the hosts soon after, then in the 31st minute Blanco was off target with an attempt from 12 yards.
Dusan Svento tried his luck at the other end in the 33rd minute - but his effort from 20 yards was wide.
The home side finished the half on top and Cristaldo fired wide in the 38th minute, before Taison forced Walke into a fingertip save in the 45th minute.
Salzburg, to their credit, started the second half brightly and after Jantscher had brought a save out of home goalkeeper Oleksandr Goryainov in the 52nd minute, Rasmus Lindgren saw a 20-yard effort blocked by defender Sergei Pshenichnikh soon after.
The visitors equalised in the 56th minute when Soriano set up Jantscher for a neat low finish from 12 yards.
However, that sparked the home side into life and they regained their lead seven minutes later when Cristaldo beat Walke after good work down the left by Cleiton Xavier.
Two minutes later it was 3-1 when Jose Sosa set up Blanco for a low shot which was too good for Walke.
