Crowther will miss the game after picking up a red card for two bookable offences in last weekend's dramatic 3-3 draw with Barrow.

Dicks is facing somewhat of a defensive crisis for the visit of the Blues after Anwar Uddin left the club.

Uddin completed his two-month loan spell with the Gravelmen and returned to Dagenham & Redbridge during the week.

Ronnie Bull will be missing with a long-term knee injury, as will Lee McEvilly.

McEvilly has yet to play for Athletic due to a shin injury and will have to wait until 2010 to make his debut.

Chester manager Jim Harvey has received mixed news.

However, Michael Lea and Anthony Barry have been ruled out.

Former Manchester United defender Lea has a groin problem while playmaker Barry is also an absentee for the trip to Essex.

Barry received some treatment at Tranmere from caretaker manager/physio Les Parry but is experiencing some soreness in the tendon behind his knee.

The victory was Chester's third in the league on the bounce as they continue in their efforts to recover their monstrous 25 point deduction, which is now just minus four.

Two goals from former Plymouth and Shrewsbury striker Nick Chadwick clinched the success that pushes Grays further into relegation danger themselves.

The Blues' on-loan Barnsley striker Michael Coulson hit an 18-yard drive from the edge of the box that flew into the top-left hand corner of the net.

Forward Fola Onibuje levelled just two minutes later as he rose highest to head home Danny Bunce's corner.
