Crocked Roche concerns Shrimps Goalkeeper Barry Roche remains an injury doubt for Morecambe as Jim Bentley's side prepare to host Macclesfield in npower League Two.

A back injury ruled Roche out of the 2-1 weekend defeat at Bristol Rovers and he will be assessed once more ahead of kick-off.

Blackpool loanee Chris Kettings stepped in to make his professional debut in Roche's absence and the 19-year-old is poised to deputise once again.

Top scorer Kevin Ellison is set to start after his persistent back problem restricted him to a substitute's role against Rovers.

Andy Parrish is hopeful of a return to the squad after the defender missed out at the weekend due to illness.

Winger Izak Reid is continuing his rehabilitation from a hernia injury and will miss out once more, while Paul Scott remains a long-term injury victim.

Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson could welcome back forward duo Ben Tomlinson and George Donnelly.

Tomlinson and Donnelly have recovered from respective thigh and calf problems to resume training this week and may be in line to feature alongside midfielder Sam Wedgbury, who has returned ahead of schedule following hernia surgery.

Wedgbury's fellow midfielder Lewis Chalmers remains on the sidelines after a similar procedure, and is set to return to a specialist to discover why his rehabilitation is not progressing as planned.

Ross Draper (broken metatarsal) is still six weeks away from his own comeback, while ankle injuries mean Dwayne Mattis and Paul Morgan remain absent.

Carlton steals three points for Shrimps Danny Carlton earned Morecambe their fourth home win of the season with the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory over Macclesfield.

Gary Hunter and Stewart Drummond both tried their luck without success in the first half for the hosts before Carlton scored with a close-range header after 53 minutes, after Macclesfield keeper Jose Veiga had saved Gary McDonald's excellent low drive.

Morecambe had chances to win the game by a greater margin but Phil Jevons wasted two glorious late opportunities to widen the advantage, and the home side were almost made to pay as the Silkmen staged a late rally.

George Donnelly's 20-yard attempt was well saved by Morecambe's debutant keeper Chris Kettings, while Donnelly also saw two goalbound efforts blocked by home defenders before Ben Tomlinson went close.

Tony Diagne was then denied an injury-time equaliser by a stunning save from the impressive Kettings, who flicked a close-range volley onto a post to ensure the Shrimps registered a home win for the first time since the end of October.
