Colombian hitman in contention Cristian Montano will go straight into the Notts County squad to face Exeter after returning to the club on loan.

Montano rejoined County from West Ham last week after impressing during a two-month stint at Meadow Lane earlier this season in which the 20-year-old Colombian scored four goals in 12 games for Martin Allen's side.

The postponement of the matches against Stevenage and Rochdale has given leading scorer Jeff Hughes more time to recover from the knock that ruled him out against Walsall a fortnight ago.

County called off the game against Dale on Saturday but the club are confident that the match will take place on Tuesday night.

A statement on the official website said: "With the recent cold weather easing and temperatures back above zero, the groundstaff have removed the frost covers and are happy with how things are looking.

"There is every reason to be optimistic that the game will go ahead and the message is that we are expecting the game to be on." Exeter manager Paul Tisdale is expected to name an unchanged matchday squad for the trip to Notts County.

The Grecians produced their best result of the season on Saturday, seeing off high-flying Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at St James' Park despite falling behind, and Tisdale has no injury or suspension problems to contend with at Meadow Lane.

Danny Coles was withdrawn with cramp during the latter stages of the win over the Owls but he is set to keep his place in the starting line-up, while defender Richard Duffy and midfielder Liam Sercombe are both pushing for recalls.

Hughes are clever boys Goals from Notts County's two leading marksmen gave them a 2-1 victory over Exeter City, who failed to build on their weekend win over high-flying Sheffield Wednesday.

A calamitous piece of goalkeeping from Artur Krysiak saw County take the lead on eight minutes after the visiting stopper failed to deal with a backpass, presenting the ball to Lee Hughes to roll into the net.

Exeter soon levelled, though, as an inswinging corner from Billy Jones saw Scot Bennett leap highest to head home from six yards on 14 minutes.

The Magpies got their noses back in front after 28 minutes when the dependable Jeff Hughes slotted home a penalty after Troy Archibald-Henville fouled Jon Harley in the box.

Harley thought he had stretched the home side's lead on 32 minutes but his goal was chalked off for a handball in the build-up.
