Rutten predicts tough Trabzonspor clash PSV Eindhoven head coach Fred Rutten expects to see a different Trabzonspor at the Philips Stadion to the one his team beat 2-1 in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie last week.

Two quick goals in Turkey last Thursday ensured PSV claimed an away win to give them control of the tie, Tim Matavz and Ola Toivonen stunning the hosts inside the first 12 minutes.

Trabzonspor pulled a goal back through Olcan Adin on the half-hour but, although they controlled possession for long periods, their horror start proved costly as they failed to find a leveller.

Rutten, whose Eredivisie-leading side suffered a surprise 3-0 defeat at mid-table FC Groningen on Sunday, said: "Trabzonspor will have a different look.

"They will look to attack. I don't think they will come here to defend.

Midfielder Kevin Strootman was also wary of the threat the visitors will pose, saying: "The first game against Trabzonspor was a very good result and gives us some comfort, but this means Trabzonspor will do everything they can to defeat us." Rutten has drafted three youth players into his 21-man squad - Mephis Depay, Menno Koch and Imad Najah - with midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum also in contention after recovering from the head injury he sustained during the KNVB Beker win against NEC Nijmegen three weeks ago.

Zakaria Labyad has been ruled out, though, joining Orlando Engelaar, Erik Pieters and Abel Tamata on the treatment table.

PSV cruised into the first knockout round of the Europa League by finishing top of Group C, dropping only two points in their six games.

Trabzonspor dropped into the competition after finishing third in Champions League Group B behind Inter Milan and CSKA Moscow.

Trabzonspor coach Senol Gunes accepts his side have it all to do in the second leg, but has not given up just yet.

"PSV showed in the first match they have highly talented and skilled players and completed a high percentage of passes," he said. "We did not dominate the game, especially in the midfield.

"Our opponents have the advantage, but nothing has been decided yet.

"Anything can happen over a two-legged tie.

PSV comfortably through PSV Eindhoven cruised into the last 16 of the Europa League with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over 10-man Trabzonspor at the Philips Stadion.

The Eredivisie leaders headed into the second leg 2-1 up and soon extended their overall advantage with first-half goals from Dries Mertens (penalty), Tim Matavz and Kevin Strootman.

Burak Yilmaz reduced the deficit two minutes before the interval but any hopes the Turkish side had of mounting a comeback disappeared on the stroke of half-time when their goalkeeper Tolga Zengin was sent off. Matavz completed the rout with his second goal of the night in the second half.

Olcan Adin had an early sight of goal for the visitors but his shot from the edge of the box was comfortably saved by PSV keeper Andreas Isaksson.

Zengin was called into action to keep out efforts from Ola Toivonen and Jetro Willems, but the Trabzonsor stopper was helpless to prevent his side going behind in the 14th minute.

Ondrej Celustka's foul on Mertens prompted the referee to point to the spot, and the Belgium winger picked himself up to despatch the penalty into the bottom-left corner.

Matavz stretched PSV's lead just after the half-hour mark when he directed his header low into the net from Mertens' cross.

Strootman made it 3-0 on the night and 5-1 overall with a neat left-footed finish into the bottom-left corner seven minutes before half-time, following good work on the right by Zakaria Labyad.

Matavz sent another header wide soon after as Fred Rutten's side continued on the offensive.

But it was the visitors who were next on the scoresheet, Yilmaz following up to score from close range after Isaksson had parried Olcan Adin's blast.

However, if Trabzonspor harboured unlikely aspirations of getting back into the tie, they soon evaporated when Zengin was shown a red card just before half-time for handling the ball outside his penalty area.

Paulo Henrique was sacrificed to make way for reserve goalkeeper Onur Kivrak, and it did not take long in the second half before he was picking the ball out of his net.

Kivrak twice saved well to deny Georgino Wijnaldum, and looked on as Labyad curled a shot just wide, but within eight minutes of the restart Matavz drilled PSV's fourth goal of the night into the bottom-left corner.
