Watching brief for Symes Michael Symes' stop-start introduction to life at Rochdale will stall once more when Bournemouth visit Spotland.

Symes joined Dale on loan from the Cherries before the end of the January transfer window but the cold snap prevented him from making his debut until Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat against fellow npower League One strugglers Scunthorpe.

The striker will be restricted to a watching brief this weekend as he is ineligible to face his parent club.

West Ham loanee Paul McCallum could be in line to make his first appearance for John Coleman's side after the 18-year-old failed to make the matchday 16 at Glanford Park.

Coleman has no new injury worries as midfielder Simon Hackney remains a long-term absentee with an abdominal problem.

Wes Fogden is available to Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury.

Fogden suffered an ankle injury during the 1-0 defeat at Chesterfield on January 27 and has missed the Cherries' last three outings.

However, the midfielder could now feature at Spotland as Bournemouth look to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Leyton Orient.

Otherwise, Bradbury will be without captain Adam Barrett, who has been ruled out with a hamstring problem, while Mathieu Baudry (hamstring), Joe Partington, Shaun Cooper, Mark Molesley and Nathan Byrne (ankle) are still short of match fitness.

Skipper Jones spot on for Dale Gary Jones handed Rochdale a League One lifeline by sinking Bournemouth 1-0 with an injury time penalty at Spotland.

Boss John Coleman tasted his second home victory in as many attempts as Dale moved off the foot of the table in dramatic fashion, after Dan Strugnell pushed Joe Thompson and captain Jones kept his cool from the spot Bournemouth were dealt an early blow when defender Stephen Purches was stretchered off after a challenge with Jason Kennedy.

The Cherries took some time to adapt to the loss and Rochdale bossed the first half, going close to opening the scoring when Jones' long-range effort was pushed over the bar by Darryl Flahaven.

Flahaven was at full-stretch to save once more as Kevin Long met Brian Barry-Murphy's corner with a glancing header.

Bournemouth ended the first half strongly and Wes Thomas should have done better when he headed Marc Pugh's cross over the top.

Cherries forward Matt Tubbs slid a golden opportunity wide of the post after a clever cut back from Thomas, while Nicky Adams latched on to Jones' fine delivery but saw a close-range effort saved by Flahaven.

It seemed both sides would have to settle for a point until Jones bagged the winner from the spot.
