Peterborough striker Ball is in line for his second debut at Spotland after rejoining Steve Eyre's side on loan.

The 21-year-old Manchester City academy graduate scored four goals in eight appearances for Dale between August and mid-October this term.

Angolan defender David, also 21, has been training with Rochdale for seven weeks and agreed a contract until the end of the season after receiving international clearance on Thursday.

Fellow centre-back Pim Balkestein is out for a month following his groin operation last week, while Mark Twaddle (back), Joe Widdowson (shin splints), Simon Hackney (stomach) and Joe Johnson remain on the sidelines Rochdale secured their first win in seven league outings at Preston last weekend courtesy of Nicky Adams' late winner.

Harlee Dean and Jake Bidwell could make their Brentford debuts.

Dean has made a temporary switch from Southampton and fellow defender Bidwell has joined on a youth loan from Everton.

Boss Uwe Rosler had to dip into the loan market this week after suffering injuries to defensive trio Karleigh Osborne, Kevin O'Connor and Shaleum Logan.

Osborne and O'Connor are missing with foot injuries and Logan was only released from hospital on Monday after suffering concussion when he collided with goalkeeper Richard Lee against Charlton.

Saunders strikes as Bees sting Dale Brentford returned to winning ways as Sam Saunders fired a late winner to sink Rochdale 2-1 at Spotland.

Beaten at home against Charlton last time out, Uwe Rosler's men bounced back with a three-point haul courtesy of Saunders, who collected Mike Grella's flick-on to shoot home from a tight angle after 79 minutes.

Nicky Adams went close on two occasions for Rochdale in the opening exchanges but the hosts' bright start paled when they conceded a penalty 11 minutes in.

Stephen Jordan's push in the back of Bees' frontman Clayton Donaldson left referee Garry Sutton with no alternative but to award the spot-kick and Gary Alexander duly obliged, hammering the ball down the middle of the net past David Lucas.

The hosts pushed for a leveller, with Dean Holden's overhead kick going close and Adams' cross to the near post met by Ashley Grimes' neat flick, the ball beating Bees' goalkeeper Richard Lee but running wide of the far post.
