Defensive duo miss cup clash First Division leaders Ross County are without defenders Marc Fitzpatrick and Jonny Flynn when Second Division promotion-chasing Stenhousemuir arrive in the Scottish Cup.

County, beaten by Dundee United in the 2010 final at Hampden Park, are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions since losing to Celtic in the League Cup in September.

But boss Derek Adams said: "I have received a comprehensive report on Stenhousemuir and we have prepared properly for the game according to that.

"We played a Second Division side in the last round when we beat Albion Rovers 4-0 and a repeat of that success would be great. We scored early in that game and it would be great to do the same this time.

"They have won eight games in the league this season and that deserves respect. They will also be coming here looking to cause an upset so we have to go out and do our jobs." Stenhousemuir will give winger Stevie Murray until close to kick-off to shake off the knock he picked up against Stirling on Monday.

The experienced Eric Paton has already been ruled out with the Warriors looking for a much-improved performance from their players after disappointing displays over the festive period.

Ochilview assistant manager Kevin McGoldrick said: "We have not been playing well and have no complaints about heading to Dingwall on the back of two defeats. It is back to the drawing board a bit but we have good players and they will bounce back.

Duo at the double Iain Vigurs and Kurtis Byrne both scored twice as Ross County thrashed 10-man Stenhousemuir 7-0.

Vigurs gave County the lead after five minutes, slotting home Michael Gardyne's cross.

The game was tight until after half-time, when Ross McMillan brought down Richard Brittain in the box and was given a straight red card. Brittain got up to slam the resulting penalty home.

Gardyne got County's third just after the hour, curling into the top corner from 20 yards, and the fourth arrived nine minutes later, Brittain feeding Steven Craig to drill into the bottom corner.

Vigurs hit his second after 75 minutes by hammering a shot into the top corner.
