                                                    Team news

Weather hampers duo's Rovers return Les Parry is expected to select from an unchanged Tranmere squad against Preston after the cold snap hindered the recovery of two injury victims.

Andy Robinson and Enoch Showunmi are battling back from knee and leg problems respectively and are nearing a return to fitness.

However the forward duo have been unable to take to Rovers' frozen training pitches this week.

Parry told Tranmere Player: "Enoch Showunmi and Andy Robinson have been victims of the weather and haven't been able to get any ball work done on the grass." In their absence, on-loan Stoke forward Ryan Brunt could partner Mustafa Tiryaki in attack having featured from the bench during last weekend's defeat at Wycombe.

Midfielder Joss Labadie is fit as he continues to manage a persistent foot problem, while defender David Raven remains on the sidelines following hernia surgery.

Preston boss Graham Westley could field a raft of debutants.

Last weekend's postponement against Brentford meant centre-back Chris Robertson and attacking duo Rhys Murphy and Graham Cummins were denied the opportunity to make their North End bows.

Since then Nicky Hunt and Aaron Brown have moved to Deepdale to further bolster the defensive ranks, where Craig Morgan (suspension) and David Gray (hamstring) will leave them short on Merseyside.

Andy Procter has recovered from a minor knock picked up during training last week, although fellow midfielder Paul Coutts misses out as he serves the first game of a two-match ban for collecting 10 yellow cards this term.

Forward duo Iain Hume (hamstring) and Neil Mellor (knee) remain long-term absentees.
