Manchester City have broken the British transfer record after beating Chelsea to Real Mardrid star Robinho. Want to know what all the fuss is about? Well, here's your essential need to know...
1) Robson de Souza was born on 25 January 1984 in Parque Bitaru, a poor neighbourhood of São Vicente, and later nicknamed Robinho.
2) His football career started at the age of six with local academy Beira-Mar. Real Madrid team-mate Marcelo also played in the team at the time.
3) He worked with Brazil legend Pelé in the Santos FC youth squad. Pelé said the 15-year-old 'almost made him cry', as he reminded the star of himself. Robinho is now known as O Principe - the Prince. Pelé is, of course, the King.
4) He signed his first professional contract with Brazilian side Santos in 2002 at the age of 18. Robinho scored nine goals in 24 appearances to help the team win the league in his first season.
5) During his time with Santos, Robinho was once booked for doing too many stepovers. Although as this evidence proves, it clearly didn't put him off. Cristiano Ronaldo eat your heart out...
6) He was named Brazil's footballer of the year in 2004 after scoring 21 goals in 37 appearances - his best goalscoring record to date. Here's one of Robinho's more spectacular efforts:
7) His mum Marina was kidnapped in November 2004 by gunmen, who took her from her home during a barbecue. The kidnappers' first demand was that Robinho stop playing football, their next step was to send a video of his mum having her hair cut off. He agreed to pay a $75,000 ransom 41 days after she was taken.
8) Real Madrid paid €24million to take Robinho to Spain in 2005, and he notched up eight goals in 37 appearances in his first La Liga season. Manager Fabio Capello banished him to the reserves along with David Beckham at the start of the 2006-07 season, and Robinho didn't play for the first team again until after the winter break. He still managed to bag six goals in the run-up to Real's title win that season, though, and then bagged another 11 last campaign as they retained their title.
9) He made his Brazil debut as a 19-year-old in a 1-0 defeat to Mexico in 2003 and has gone on to win 50 caps and acore15 goals for his country. Robinho really came into his own during Brazil's Copa America victory last summer, where he was named player of the tournament and walked away with the Golden Boot.
10) As well as being daubed Pelé's successor, Robinho has also became a member of Brazil's 'Three Rs' attacking trident, replacing Rivaldo alongisde Ronaldinho and Ronaldo.
So can he also become instrumental in bagging 'three points' for Manchester City this season?
