Alan Shearer ready to stay on as Newcastle manager next season

Alan Shearer is ready to commit his managerial future to Newcastle long term.
The interim boss will not walk away from the job at the end of the season, despite insisting that he would only be in charge for eight games when he took over last month.
Shearer wants to bring stability to St James' Park as part of a rebuilding plan that could take several seasons - a challenge he is willing to accept if he continues to get the backing of owner Mike Ashley.
The ex-strike legend has taken the gamble of trying to help the Geordies out of their most troubled period for 17 years, and he requires a miracle to stave off relegation during the run-in, continuing against Middlesbrough on Monday.
But Shearer has also been laying down foundations behind the scenes for next season, including reviewing the medical set-up, looking for a new club doctor, and building his backroom staff.
Despite only winning two points from five games since he took over Shearer is relishing the challenge.
He is described as having the "bit between his teeth" and said yesterday: "There have been a few challenges but as daft as it seems I am enjoying it.
"I'll enjoy it more on Tuesday morning if we get three points against Middlesbrough."
