Alex McLeish sent nuts by 'terrific' Craig Gordon

Alex McLeish was ready to “stick the nut” on fellow Scot Craig Gordon after his sensational series of second-half saves.

Gordon’s sharp reflexes ­repeatedly denied Birmingham’s strikers.

And City boss McLeish, usually a big fan of the Scotland No.1, said: “I never saw him afterwards. If I had seen him, I would have stuck the nut on him. He was terrific.”

But McLeish is less keen on City’s Joe Hart becoming the England No.1. He said: “If he made the slightest of mistakes, he would get killed – and he is not ready to be killed yet.”
