Alex McLeish makes move for Gijon Michel

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish wants Sporting Gijon's Michel in a cut-price £2million deal.

City offered to take the midfielder on trial but Primera Liga side Gijon want a permanent deal. Cash-strapped Valencia are also interested.

Gijon play Birmingham next weekend at St Andrews in a friendly and further talks are planned.
