Tottenham have had a quiet summer on the transfer front so far, but have now tabled a £17million bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo .
The 23-year-old, nicknamed La fiera de Vallecas (The wild animal of Vallecas), has been on Real's books since 2005 and impressed in the young Castilla second team. In his final season, 2006-07, Negredo scored 18 league goals, even though Castilla dropped from the second division.
Here he is scoring for the Madrid youngsters:
That summer he was sold to La Liga promotees UD Almería, with Real Madrid having an option to rebuy. In his first season he finished top-scorer, having chalked up 13 goals, and the Andalusian club ended 8th.
Then, last season, he netted five in the side's first six games, including a 95th minute winner against local rivals Recreativo de Huelva. In February he scored a brace against Valencia and he finished the campaign with 19 strikes.
Real Madrid exercised their buyback option, costind a reported €5 million, and he returned to first team training with the club in July. But with so many top-class forwards at Real, the club could be tempted to take Spurs' offer.
Below is a tribute to Negredo, showing he is clinical from close range and has a good turn of pace.
