Andrew Johnson could leave Fulham in January for just £1million if he fails to agree a new deal.
His contract expires next year and the club recently made a new offer with improved terms from when the two parties last spoke.
But there is still no agreement and an increasing expectation within the club that the forward – who joined Fulham for £10.5m from Everton in 2008 – could move when the transfer window reopens.
