Hat-trick hero Theo Walcott believes the Cesc factor can turn Arsenal into champions.
Walcott scored his first treble for Arsenal in this annihilation of Blackpool and believes they will get even better once Cesc Fabregas returns to his best form.
Arsenal captain Fabregas, who spent the summer flirting with Barcelona, was given an incredible reception as he came on as a second-half substitute.
Walcott said: “Cesc is starting to get fit now and he’s looking very good in training.
“He spots balls that no-one else does and it’s nice to see him back out on the pitch and playing very well.
“We’ve got so many fantastic players. As long as we keep them all fit, we’re going to be very strong.”
It was Walcott’s first hat-trick since his heroics for England in Croatia in 2008 and he nearly forgot to grab the match-ball.
The young winger believes it will send a strong message that he is back to his best and that Arsenal have got their sights on winning some silverware this season.
“Last season I was unlucky with the injuries but I had a good break during the summer and just want to show people what I can do,” he said.
“I need to play well for Arsenal and for England to prove a few people wrong.
“But I will keep my feet on the ground as I always do and look forward to every single game.”
He went on: “It was a good result against Liverpool last week and now we’ve won our first game at home.
“It’s a big stepping stone and we need to push on from this.
“It does send a message but we won’t get ahead of ourselves because we’ve got to be winning these games and the most important thing is how we react against Blackburn next week.
“They are the games we need to be winning. They are the games that might have let us down last season so that’s where we have to show our character.”
