Kieran Gibbs is set to give Arsenal a major fitness boost.
The 22-year-old has been out for nearly four months after undergoing two hernia operations.
But Gibbs is now back in full training and is set to be included in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Sunderland.
The luckless defender has been plagued by injuries which have held back his career, even though he has already been called up by England and won two caps.
His return is welcome news for Arsenal, who have been forced to use centre-half Thomas Vermaelen as a makeshift left-back in recent weeks.
The Gunners have also been troubled by other full-backs being out injured, but Bacary Sagna is now back to fitness.
Swiss defender Johan Djourou is also back to fitness, while Marouane Chamakh is available again after Africa Cup of Nations duty with Morocco.
