Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger planning last-minute striker raid

Arsene Wenger has made a final attempt to sign Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.
And the Arsenal boss hasn't given up on re-signing Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan as he looks to clinch at least one last-minute deal.
Wenger has already had a £5m bid for Chamakh turned down but the Moroccan striker wants to join Arsenal and has just 12 months left on his deal.
Frenchman Wenger, renowned for making last ditch deals having signed Andriy Arshavin at the 11th hour in January, has gone back to Bordeaux with a fresh offer hoping they will sell.
Chamakh has made it clear that he won't sign a new deal so Arsenal are hoping Bordeaux sell now rather than lose him for nothing next summer.
Wenger wants a target man to improve his squad and give them a genuine title push this season.
Vieira, 33, is still on his radar but that deal will depend on Inter allowing the French hardman to leave.
Vieira is interested in returning to boost his World Cup chances after struggling to get regular games at Inter. St Etienne's Blaise Matuidi is another target but Arsenal don't want to pay £8m.
Arsenal need a centre-half but will only buy if Philippe Senderos leaves. Everton, Aston Villa, Fulham and Blackburn have all been interested in the Swiss stopper.
