Cesc to return as Wenger searches for reinforcements

Cesc Fabregas is set to be rushed back by Arsenal after Samir Nasri’s injury setback.
French midfielder Nasri will be out for a month after undergoing minor knee surgery yesterday on a meniscal injury suffered at Liverpool on Sunday.
It is a huge blow for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as Nasri has been in good form in pre-season and the midfielder missed the start of last season after breaking his leg.
Wenger is likely to bring back Fabregas into the first team squad for Saturday’s game with Blackpool after he and Robin van Persie were given an extended break following the World Cup.
Arsenal are confident of completing a deal for Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer, 37, before the window shuts with the transfer being held up until Mark Hughes finds a suitable replacement.
Wenger’s other transfer target is a centre half and Arsenal may make one last attempt for Everton’s Phil Jagielka, despite having two approaches turned down already.
Arsenal have had a move for Per Mertesacker rebuffed by Werder Bremen and Montpellier insisted they do want sell Emir Spahic.
Arsenal are monitoring Dynamo Kiev’s Pape Diakhate and Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen as back-up plans but a move for a centre half is likely to go to the wire as they hope for prices to fall.
