Bent's Euro 2012 hopes are still alive

Aston Villa and England striker Darren Bent has had surgery tonight in a desperate bid to make Euro 2012.
Villa’s £24million marksman ruptured ligaments in his left ankle against Wigan last month.
Bent underwent an operation in London on Monday night which was declared a “complete success” by Villa.
The 28-year-old, who has 10 goals this term, is now scheduled to return to full training in 12 weeks despite the Premier League season ending on May 13.
It means the star is set to miss Villa’s remaining Premier League matches.
But he could still be fit for England’s first Euro 2012 group game on June 11.
Bent has four goals in 12 games at international level but has never played in a tournament, having been overlooked for the 2006 and 2010 World Cup squads.
