Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne was relieved his side got a break when Spurs were denied a late penalty.
Referee Chris Foy turned down appeals after Jermain Defoe was tripped by Villa skipper Stiliyan Petrov.
Dunne said: “It looked like a penalty but we got the decision. We were very pleased with the point in the end.
“We had a blip over Christmas so to get back among the points is important."
Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel was also content to settle for a point. “Spurs are a very good team going forward, we saw that from the videos we watched before the game and playing against them down the years,” he said.
“Harry Redknapp has got them going, especially at home with their waves of attacks. Maybe they had the better of the chances and will be disappointed but we were strong.”
