Aston Villa line up former Birmingham star Pennant

Jermaine Pennant could be set for a shock return to the Premier League with Aston Villa.
Pennant, who used to play for Villa’s bitter rivals Birmingham, is not enjoying life in Spain with Real Zaragoza.
He has yet to score in La Liga this season following his summer switch from Portsmouth and the former Arsenal midfielder is now pining for a move back to the Premier League.
Martin O’Neill has noted Pennant’s situation and despite his links with Birmingham, the Villa manager is ready to make a January move for the 26-year-old.
A switch to Villa Park would be the eighth club of Pennant’s career but O’Neill is ready to take a risk on the one-time England Under-21 star in a bid to bolster his attacking options.
It is thought an offer of £2.5million would be enough to persuade Zaragoza to part with Pennant.
