Luke Young admits the tragic death of his brother made him lose his appetite for football.
Aston Villa right-back Young, 30, was devastated when his 17-year-old brother Andre died on holiday in Greece in August.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill gave the star several weeks off on compassionate leave, at a time when he was also injured
And the defender was reminded of the loss of his brother during the pre-match minute’s silence for Remembrance Day before Villa’s win over Bolton at the weekend.
“It all came back to me when we had the minute’s silence before kick-off on Saturday,” said Young after his first league start of the season.
“It was quite emotional for me.
“In the first few weeks after what happened I didn’t really want to do anything. It was really tough early on.
“Then you come in and train hard and get a sweat on and you can get stuck in and it gives you something else to think about.
“Now I’m ready to focus on my football again.”
