Nigel Reo-Coker has been given the all-clear to return to training with Aston Villa - as he targets an FA Cup semi-final appearance at Wembley.
Midfielder Reo-Coker, 25, was ruled out for 12 weeks when he suffered a stress fracture of his ankle in January.
Boss O’Neill described the injury, sustained in training, as “a major blow”.
But the tough-tackling ace got the all-clear from a specialist on Monday to return to training.
And the midfield star, signed from West Ham in May 2007 for £7.5million, aims to be pushing for a return to first team action next week.
Reo-Coker’s last game for the club was when he helped Villa to victory in the FA Cup third round at home to Blackburn on January 2.
But he now hopes to be available for Villa’s Premier League game at home to Wolves a week on Saturday - and their FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea next month.
Reo-Coker captained West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup final when they lost on penalties to Liverpool.
