Aston Villa to spend Barry cash on Nicky Shorey and Luke Young

Martin O'Neill is splashing out £9.5million on Nicky Shorey and Luke Young to finally end his full-back crisis.
Aston Villa boss O'Neill, who expects to receive £18m from Liverpool for Gareth Barry this week, has won the battle to sign England left-back Shorey from Reading in a £4.5m deal while Young is set for a £5m move from Middlesbrough.
The double deal ends O'Neill's desperate search to replace Olof Mellberg, who has joined Juventus, and crocked Dutchman Wilfred Bouma.
Young has been a long-term target and completed his move after Boro boss Gareth Southgate reluctantly accepted the bid.
Shorey has opted for Villa ahead of Sunderland and has the chance to play in Europe. He has been assured he will be the first choice for the long term if he shows his normal form.
