Avram Grant calls in a psychologist to fire up Chelsea

Avram Grant has turned to a psychologist to fire up Chelsea for their Premier League showdown with Manchester United.

The Blues boss recruited sports guru George Mumford to work with his players.

The American is currently with the LA Lakers basketball team and was also on the Chicago Bulls coaching staff helping superstar Michael Jordan.

Grant is a big basketball fan, which is how he knows Mumford, and is also impressed by methods used in US sport.

Mumford - who has worked in English football before - teaches positive thinking and determination to win and it is believed his sessions with the Chelsea players went well as they go into the biggest five days of their season.

They must beat Manchester United today to keep alive Premier League hopes and play Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday.
