Bah humbug! Spurs trying to stop Christmas parties (again!)

Harry Redknapp has banned his Spurs players from any Christmas party this year.
Redknapp was angry 12 months ago when 16 of them went on a £2,000-a-head night out by private jet to Dublin after they told the manager they were going on a golf trip.
Four days after the jaunt to Ireland, Spurs suffered a shock home defeat to Wolves and manager Redknapp has made it clear that there will be no repeat.
His assistant Joe Jordan said: “There are no Christmas parties and they will be reminded of that.
“There is nothing against one or two players going out with their wives but the manager wants to steer away from parties at this stage of the season.
“Footballers are under more scrutiny – not just because it is this club. Whether it is Brentford or Birmingham, they are under scrutiny.
“The parties cannot be done now. That is the time we are living in. It is not on. If you go out with a group of players it is hunting season.
“The tradition of Christmas parties has to be in the past. It is a dangerous thing to do now. You are leaving yourself open to rumour. You play the season until May and then you enjoy yourself.”
Jordan is also aware of the threat posed by Chelsea today at White Hart Lane and agreed they would be “like a wounded animal” after their disappointing results.
He insisted that in Carlo Ancelotti, Chelsea have the right man.
“As a manager, he was at Parma and under pressure,” said Jordan. “He went to Juventus and he did well under pressure.
“He then went to AC Milan. He won the championship and the European Cup. He has seen it all before.”
