Jason Roberts claims his Blackburn side can defy the bookies odds again and get themselves back into the Premier League's top 10.
Rovers are one of the favourites for relegation in the new season, after only narrowly surviving last term in a turbulent season which saw them taken over by Indian owners Venky's.
But striker Roberts claims their successful battle to beat the drop showed they have a good team spirit and and believes the club's owners will strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes at the end of August.
"I saw that we were one of the favourites [to go down]," he said. "If you look at last season, and some of the teams that were around us, we always thought our team spirit would see us through.
"Hopefully, now we go on to more positive conversations about getting into the top 10, because that's where we have been for the last four or five years, and hopefully that will be the start of a new and exciting era for the club.
"We are not the first club in the world that has ever been taken over. The way people talk, it seems like we are the only club where that has ever happened! We are excited about what could potentially happen.
"People in the club can see that, hopefully, we will be moving forward and will be looking at getting to where we were - in the top 10.
"The Premier League is an exciting league and they [Venky's] have come in with big plans.
"They want to make things happen in the way they see fit, and as players we just come on board and try to supplement that as best we can."
