Ian Holloway is set to turn to Francis Jeffers to score the goals to keep Blackpool in the Premier League.
Jeffers helped his chances of earning a contract with the top flight newcomers by netting in the Seasiders' narrow win over Leyton Orient in Devon yesterday.
Boss Holloway said: "Franny was a £10m pounds player not so long ago and I invited him down to see if he can get back to somewhere near that form.
"He has a lot of offers and his agent has been badgering me for a decision on whether or not we want to keep him.
"I need to see how we get along but at the moment he has the advantage over other players I am looking at because he is here with us.
"I have watched a lot of people from abroad on DVD but might not be able to make a judgement on them until January, by which time our season could be over.
"Franny also has experience of what it is like to play in the Premier League, which is what we are looking for.
"He took his goal really well and has shown he has not lost that knack of getting in the right positions at the right time. I will let him know my decision soon."
Jeffers' clever finish and a last minute header from defender Ian Evatt helped Blackpool see of their League One opponents and book a place in the final of the South West Challenge Cup.
Holloway afterwards confirmed Israel defender Dekel Keinan will complete his free transfer from Maccabi Haifa next week after being granted a work permit.
