Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng could play against his brother Jerome at the World Cup this summer after the pair were named in different provisional squads for the competition.
Kevin-Prince has been included in Ghana's preliminary 30-man squad for South Africa while Hamburg defender Jerome was one of 27 names revealed by Joachim Low for group-rivals Germany's squad. The brothers have a Ghanaian father and a German mother.
"We have spoken about it a few times," admitted Kevin-Prince in 11 Freunde magazine. "If we do both make it into the starting XI, then we could actually be opponents. That is a bizarre scenario."
Kevin-Prince appears to have picked Ghana after failing to convince Low to name him in the senior squad despite appearing for the Under-21s while Jerome, who is being linked with a summer transfer to Manchester City, looks set to make his competitive bow for Germany in South Africa.
According to Ghana's assistant coach Akwasi Appiah, Kevin-Prince has been given the green light to appear for the African nation.
"He has been given permission by FIFA," he told Sport Bild magazine.
