Cardiff boss Dave Jones wants Charlton's experienced centre-half Mark Hudson to replace Roger Johnson.
Jones hopes to tie up a £700,000 deal for the former Fulham defender after saying farewell to Birmingham-bound Johnson.
Cardiff are also chasing Millwall left-winger David Martin, who would cost them around £750,000.
