Carlo Ancelotti has tipped Ross Turnbull to solve Chelsea’s keeper crisis.
Petr Cech has a calf injury, while deputy Hilario is ruled out with a groin strain.
Turnbull will face London rivals West Ham at Stamford Bridge today, but Ancelotti insists the club’s title hopes are in safe hands. It will be the 25-year-old’s first Premier League appearance since his switch from Middlesbrough last summer.
Ancelotti admitted: “It’s a big test, for sure. But he’s worked very hard and had a lot of sessions of work to improve his quality.”
The rookie may even be thrown into the Champions League second-leg clash with Jose Mourinho’s Inter on Tuesday, unless Cech makes a swift recovery.
“I’m not worried about this,” added the Blues boss. “He has the quality to do well. He is a good goalkeeper. He won’t be worried. He’s very calm.”
