Sir Alex Ferguson has branded "crazy" the ruling that has forced Manchester City to halve the fine they imposed on rebel striker Carlos Tevez.
City had initially fined Tevez four weeks' wages - around £1million - after finding their former skipper guilty of five breaches of contract following an incident on the bench during their Champions League tie away to Bayern Munich.
But with Professional Footballers' Association regulations stating the maximum clubs can fine a player is two weeks' wages, City were forced to slash the financial penalty originally imposed on Tevez.

Manchester United boss Ferguson expressed surprise at the PFA ruling, saying: "I think it’s a bit strange, of course. The rules and regulations are there, that’s a fact, and Gordon Taylor [PFA chief executive] has said that the maximum fine you can give a player is two weeks.
"It seems a bit crazy in that particular situation but it’s there and there’s nothing you can do about it."
