Celtic make Liverpool an offer for Jermaine Pennant

Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is a £3million target for Celtic - which could signal Aiden McGeady moving to the Premier League.
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan last night tabled a bid with Liverpool for 25-year-old Pennant, who is set to leave Anfield next month.
Strachan regards Pennant as a ready-made replacement for McGeady after his bitter fall-out with the club's star winger, which led to him being banned from first-team training after a dressing-room bust-up.
Pennant turned down offers from Stoke and Blackburn in the summer to stay and fight for his future, but Liverpool want to cash in as he only has six months left on his contract.
Former Arsenal and Birmingham player Pennant can leave on a free transfer in the summer - unless he makes 15 first-team appearances, which will then automatically trigger a 12-month extension that is written into his contract. Liverpool paid Birmingham £6.7m for him.
