Carlo Ancelotti insisted Fernando Torres will start against Liverpool - after a four goal show by rampant Chelsea.
The Blues destroyed Sunderland with a brilliant second half display as John Terry and Nicolas Anelka settled the match with goals after the break.
Ancelotti declared Chelsea ready to chase Manchester United to the death for the title and he insisted his side have been handed a massive boost by Roman Abramovic's £70 million transfer window splurge on Torres and David Luiz.
Ancelotti said:"I think we need Torres even after scoring four goals. He and Luiz are fantastic players and we need players with fantastic abilities. The club has done fantastic to buy both as it was a difficult transfer market.
"We know we have more power and ability in the squad. We try to do our best in this season.
"Torres can play in every team because he has a fantastic ability. With his quality he will have not problem to settle in our team.
"He will have no problems playing with Drogba or another striker. Maybe we have to play with two strikers together. It is not a problem. It doesn't change a lot. With a diamond in midfield our shape doesn't change too much.
"Tomorrow and the next day we will test Torres. I think he has not problems with fitness because he played the last game with Liverpool."
After a turbulent few months Ancelotti says Abramovic has provided support with his injection of new blood.
He added: "I felt every time the support of the club. I think we were able to move on, and everyone one can see Chelsea come out to play good football and try to score.
"The gap from the top is the same tonight, because Man U won. Our aim is to do our best and we are doing that. We have won the last two away games. We have a lot of possibilities to do the best. Until the end, if it will be enough I don't know whether it will be enough to win the title. It doesn't depend on us. It is difficult to close the gap on Manchester United if they keep winning."
Phil Bardsley and Kieron Richardson netted for Sunderland with a Frank Lampard penalty and a Salomon Kalou strike kept the scored level at half time.
Ancelotti says ex Benfica defender will also be a huge asset: "He has fantastic quality as a defender. He won't have a problem because he has experience in the Champions' League this season. He is available. He can play from the back with more quality because he can also play as a midfielder. He can play in all the positions of the back four.
"Everyone knows the ability of these players and everyone is happy because they know these new players can improve this squad."
Sunderland boss said: "With Chelsea's options, and now with Torres, they are mouthwatering."
