Carlo Ancelotti says he is under no pressure to win the Champions League – because Roman Abramovich has not told him to.
It was widely assumed that the Italian was taken on by Chelsea owner Abramovich with the specific brief to lift Europe’s premier prize, which he won twice with AC Milan.
The Blues boss was also a European champion twice as a player, and he said: “When I won the CL it was the best emotion I’ve felt in my career. I dream of winning it again.’
But he added: “Roman Abramovich never said to me to win the Champions League. For him it’s not so different to win the Champions League or the Premier League.
“The first thing is to be involved in all the competitions. We want to win, we have a possibility to win, I don’t know what. For him it’s not so important to win Champions League.
“I don’t want to choose between them because we want to do our best. We want to prepare game by game because that is the only way to show our best.”
