Anelka set for new Chelsea deal

Nicolas Anelka has opened talks with Chelsea about a new two-year contract extension.
French international Anelka, who turns 31 on Sunday, was left frustrated after negotiations stalled two months ago.
But Chelsea appear ready to discuss a new deal for the striker, whose current £70,000-a-week contract expires in 2011.
Chelsea want to tie down Anelka, who is enjoying some of the best football of his much-travelled career and has scored eight goals in 24 games this season.
Chelsea are confident they will be able to sign up Anelka by the end of the month to ward off interest from Spain.
But there is still a stand-off between Chelsea and Joe Cole after the club refused to meet the England midfielder’s pay demands. Cole’s current deal expires at the end of the season.
