Chelsea to loan Andriy Shevchenko to AC Milan

Chelsea are ready to cut their losses by letting £31million flop Andriy Shevchenko go on loan to AC Milan - but only if they pay his wages.
The striker's two-year nightmare at Stamford Bridge is set to end with a return to Milan on a 12-month deal.
The Ukrainian's desperate spell at Chelsea reached its lowest ebb when he was left out of the squad for Sunday's Premier League opener against Portsmouth despite the absences of Didier Drogba and SalamonKalou. Instead new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari gave a spot on the bench to teenage Argentine rookie Franco Di Santo, with Shevchenko, 31, devastated at his omission.
Sources in Milan claimed last night a loan deal had been agreed at a meeting in Sardinia last week between Roman Abramovich and San Siro owner and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Milan wanted Chelsea to pay the bulk of Shevchenko's £130,000-aweek wages as part of the deal.
But while Scolari and Chelsea are happy to let Shevchenko go - the transfer will only take place if Milan accept to pay the striker's wages in full.
