Chelsea to make final bid for Real Madrid striker Robinho

Chelsea will make a last ditch bid to buy Real Madrid striker Robinho when the Brazilian flies to London for this weekend's Emirates Cup.

Robinho (above) is set to line up for the Spanish club at Arsenal, but it emerged last night that Madrid are set to offer him a new five-year deal worth £2.5m a year.

Werder Bremen playmaker Diego is an alternative for Chelsea and would cost about £25million.

But Robinho, who has recovered from a groin strain, is their main objective.
