Chelsea are lining up a £30million bid for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to a report.
Although there has been no official contact with the Spanish giants yet, the Daily Star claims the Blues have made their interest known and will take the next step in the January transfer window.
New boss Andre Villas-Boas has seen little return from striker Fernando Torres, who was bought for £50m under previous manager Carlo Ancelotti, and is allowing Nicolas Anelka to leave next month.
Fans favourite Didier Drogba will be 34 in March, while Romelu Lukaku, despite the £18m he cost in the summer, is only 18 and is one for the future.
Higuain is said to be cheesed off at the Bernabeu, where he is playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema under ex-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
