Chief executive Peter Kenyon has confirmed that Chelsea are in talks with Real Madrid to sign Robinho, and that it would be the Blues' last transfer deal of the summer should the Brazilian forward put pen to paper.
"I think as far as Robinho is concerned it is quite right he has been one of our targets," Kenyon told Chelsea TV.
"We have had several conversations with Madrid and he is a player we think would add a great deal to Chelsea.
"We have got a fantastic squad and that has been strengthened with (Jose) Bosingwa and Deco and I think the coach was just looking for one more to complete what he thinks is the perfect squad.
"There is still a long way to go on that one, but we are very, very interested and the clubs are in dialogue."
Robinho himself has given off mixed signals with regard to a move to Stamford Bridge.
After initially claiming he would welcome to chance to link up with former Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, the player yesterday claimed he would like to commit his future to Real Madrid.
