New star Josh McEachran is using Frank Lampard as his role model as he continues his remarkable progress at Chelsea.
The 17-year-old made his first-team debut against Zilina in Chelsea’s Champions League opener and shone in the Carling Cup home defeat by Newcastle four days ago.
Now boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to use him again when Marseille visit West London in the Champions League on Tuesday.
McEachran, who can play in the centre or left midfield, said: “Chelsea say to me, ‘Look at Frank Lampard’. I need to get in the box more and score more and that will help me as a player, so I will try that more this season.
“Being with the first team every day now, I feel more part of the group.
“John Terry always speaks to me and says, ‘Keep going, you are doing really well’.”
But Ancelotti insisted: “He can play in the first team right now, without problem.
“Josh is very young but he showed fantastic ability.”
