Veteran Christian Vieri is being offered a shock chance to join Blackburn - and make them his 15th senior club.
The striker, 35, is due at Rovers' training camp in Austria today for some of their pre-season games.
Italian Vieri, who speaks fluent English, has pleaded for the opportunity to impress Sam Allardyce, a manager never afraid to take on a golden oldie.
But Big Sam will want to be sure about Vieri, before offering the two-year deal he is looking for after a poor run of form in Serie A. Vieri only managed nine starts for Atalanta last term, although he had a better time with Fiorentina in the previous campaign.
The strapping six-footer was rated one of the best strikers in the world at his peak with Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan - where he netted at almost a goal a game.
However his career has been in decline with spells at AC Milan and Monaco leaving doubts about his fitness and attitude.
