Dutchman Co Stompe is out of the PDC world championship after being bitten on his throwing hand by former Holland international Aron Winter's dog.
Stompe went down 4-1 to Terry Jenkins after being injured during a Christmas get-together with friend Winter, now the manager of MLS side Toronto FC.
Winter made 84 appearances for the Netherlands, winning the European Championships in 1988. He also won Uefa Cups with Ajax and Inter Milan.
The bizarre KO is not Stompe's only brush with football. His fans have adopted Portsmouth's Pompey Chimes chant and sing "Play up Stompe, Stompe play up".
