Cobblers land Gilbert

Northampton have signed former Sheffield Wednesday left-back Peter Gilbert on a contract to the end of the season.
Gilbert is able to join the club outside of the transfer window as he was a free agent after leaving Oldham earlier this season. He turned down the offer of a contract at Boundary Park before the transfer window closed in August.
Manager Ian Sampson said: "I am sure Peter will do a good job for us."
He added: "We have had a good look at him over the last couple of weeks. He is a left footer and that helps the balance of the squad, and he is a good defender with a lot of experience of playing at a higher level. He is a good age with a good degree of experience.
"We have been looking to strengthen defensively and I am sure he will prove a good addition."
